As community spread of the coronavirus gets more and more likely, we are taking additional precautions to keep you and our staff safe.
We also want to let you know how you can safely handle and prepare food and raw meat at home to reduce the risk of infections.
Food & Coronavirus (COVID-19)
There is currently no evidence that food is a likely source or route of transmission of the virus.
When cooking and handling food, make sure to follow good hygiene practices, such as washing hands, cooking meat thoroughly and avoiding potential cross-contamination between cooked and uncooked foods.

Health & Hygiene
At Saunderson’s, we take health & hygiene very seriously: Our staff have all gone through the required food hygiene training with The Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland.
Additionally, our premises have just undergone the annual environmental health inspection and passed it with flying colours.
Following the high standards of our industry, our rigorous food hygiene routine includes staff washing their hands as well as cleaning surfaces and machines thoroughly on a regular basis.
In light of the novel coronavirus pandemic, we have increased our efforts to keep everyone safe at all times.
For example, staff are held to use tongs and forks for handling meat as often as possible and wash their hands or change their gloves more frequently, especially after handling money.
We will also change our aprons and shirts more often and increase our cleaning regime of surfaces, fridges and displays.
These practices will be reviewed regularly and further changes implemented based on official recommendations by the government and industry bodies.
Online shop & deliveries
You can order your meat online or by phone and get your shopping delivered straight to your doorstep.
All our deliveries are freshly cut and prepared to order and packaged in our shop in a controlled and clean environment.
Because we are sourcing our meat locally, we are not expecting disruption of our supply chain anytime soon.
We are constantly monitoring this and will keep you informed through announcements on social media, our email newsletter and in our shop on Leven Street.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions!
